STATE GUARANTEED ADVANCES LOANS APPROVED.
PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, March 18. Sir Joseph Ward presided over a meeting of the State Guaranteed Advances Board to-day, and a large number of loans for - local public bodies for various purposes were considered, and loans were provisionally approved to the extent of £612,000." Preference was given to .local bodies applying for moneys for roads, bridges, sewerage, drainage and water purposes. Those local bodies with back-block requirements were first considered, and, where the securities were right, the applications were, in each case granted at 31 per cent, interest, with sinking "fund. . ,- (> The various public bodies will be advised to-morrow of the result of their applications.
