Hopkins, arrived in Feilding this morning and immediately commenced operations preparing for the display , which is' to be given on the racecourse to-morrow evening. The Company are making an extended tour of the Dominion and recently gaVe a large display in Hastings, of which the Standard says: "It was without a doubt the best display of fireworks ever witnessed in Hastings, and judging by the frequent exclamations of amazement and admiration, the audience thoroughly appreciated the programme. Particularly fine was the imitation battle between warships and forte, x.amos, -'the human Catherine wheel,' swinging his blazing clubs amidst a shower of sparks was an awe-inspir-ing sight." The feilding Brass Band will be in attendance. At the meeting of the Licensing Bench to-day, Sergeant Bowden stated that though the licensee of the Feilding Hotel had promised that fire prevention appliances would be put in upstairs, nothing had been done. The Chairman of the Bench said the matter would come before the Bench at the annual meeting, and if nothing had been done by then, the Committee would consider the matter, and possibly order something to be done which would cost perhaps considerate- more than what ' the licensee would have done. The Bench's decision would apply to all the Feilding hotel premises.
