FEILDING FEATURES.

A MINISTER'S IMPRESSIONS

MR MILLAR IS "VERY MUCH STRUCK."

AN INTERVIEW.

Despite the rush and push, and bustle of banquet and deputation and touring trips, the Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister of Railway, found a few minutes to spare in which to give to a Stak representative something of .his impressions of the Feilding district. '■'As you know," said the Minister, "this is my first visit to the Feikling district. I have been very much struck with the vast area of fine agricultural and pastoral land which drains into Feikling. On our trip today, when wo went through, the Cheltenham, Kiwitea, Kimbolton, Apiti, Rangiwahia, and Wai tun a districts, it did not seem to matter which way we went, the good quality of the land was visible,"

Mr Millar had ascertained tha.tthe district which Feilding served had a length of 50 miles, with a breadth of 40 miles. He admitted it was an eyeopener to him to find such fine stretches of country, and, as he had stated in his speech at the dinner, the trip through the district had Leon an education to him.

"The stock everywhere," he continued, '-'seemed to be in good, healthy condition. And, judging-by recent .stock sales. Fcilding seems to be becoming a sort of centra] stock depot. 1 found that buyers fromTaranaki, Wiiikato, and Hawke's J3ay come to Feilding to buy sheep.'''

Continuing with regard to his observation of the country surrounding Feilding, Mr Millar said: "There are evident signs of prosperity right throughout the district. I was greatly impressed with the hopeful manner in which every man spoke about the future of Feilding and district. It shows they have great faith in the possibilities of the district.'"'
