The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report : — Horses. — At the Durham yards horses were brought forward in average numbers and sold under a steady competition. Heavy draughts sold at from £29 10s to £37 10s; medium do, £17 5s to £30 15s ; hacks and light harness horses, £8 10s to £20 ss; weeds, £2 10s to £6 15s; Courtland waggon, £30 ; spring-cart £10 10s. At Waiuku dairy cows sold at from £4 2s 6d to £7 10s; empty cows, £2 2s 6d to £3 os; calves, los to £1 9s. No grown steers were yarded. We sold a lot of furniture and sundries at very satisfactory prices. Cattle. — At the Newmarket yards dairy and store stock were yarded in usual numbers, with an average supply of beef. Dairy cows sold at from £4 os to £8 10s ; empty do., £2 2s 6d to £3; calves, 16s to £1 6s. Bidding for beef was keen and advanced on last week's rates, oxen selling to 245. per 1001 b and cows 18s to 22s per 100 Ib. Steers sold at from £6 10s to £10 15s; cows, £4 2s 6d to £8. The beef cattle throughout were of good quality, although not heavy weights. Sheep were penned in usual numbers at Newmarket, and sold at late advanced rates. Wethers realised from 13s 9d to £1 3s 9d ; ewes, 12s 6d to £1 3s 9d; well-fatted lambs, 11s to 18s 9d ; other sorts, Gs to 9s 3d ; store ewes, 7s 9d 'to 12s 6d. Pigs. — Porkers sold at from £1 to £1 18s; weaners, 7s to 12s 6d; baconers, £2 2s to £3 10s.
