CUMBERLAND'S WIN.

The New Zealanders suffered, one of the heaviest reverses of their tour at Workington, when they opposed CumbeiLahd, by three goals and five tries to three goals and one try. The AX\Blacks practically lost the match in . the -rst. half. The home team were playingjvith judgment' andskill, there being a capital understanding between the backs and the forwards. Directly after the-, change of ends, Cumberland was twice, penalised, and on eaoh occasion Messenger landed a . goal. Cumberland then .. tackled strongly, and,- after repeated failures, crossed their opponents' lino. Though generally unable to make much headway, the visitors managed to secure a try, Warwick charging down ou Ridley's kick and taking the ball over with him. Messenger again kicked a goal. Cumberland mastered the situation for the rest of the game, >'. and added another try, which was not converted.
