SANDON NOTES.
Our Sandon correspondent writes that the sporting fraternity there turned out in force last Saturday. The Sandon District Cricket Club met m a contest with Himatangi on the latter's ground. The visitors quite outclassed the local men, both in batting and bowling. Himatangi went in first and made 30, then Sandon went in and put up 89 for eight wickets, and declared the innings closed. In the second innings Himatangi only made 23, or a total of 53 for both innings. Thus Sandon won by an in- : nings and 36 runs. A boutiful supply of afternoon tea and cakes was supplied by the ladies, rounding off a pleasant outing. The Sandon-Ohakea Tennis Club also played a match against Otaki, at Paluierston and camo home victorious. The usual weekly competition of the Sandon-Ohakea Rifle Club took place on Saturday. The following aro the scores: — F. Lumsden (10) 96, C. Penny (25) 96, W. Pearce (20) 93, W. A. Lumsden (4) 91, S. Lumsden (30) 91, F. Purnell (0) 86, A. K. Drew (6) 83, L. Lumsden (18) 81, H. Pearce (8) 81.
