RANGIWAHIA.
4* JIAKMERS'. UNION SOCIAL iOur Own Correspondent.) The annual social of the Rangiwahia branch of the Farmers' Union was held last evening. It was largely attended by local farmers and their families, visitors from surrounding districts beipg also present. Mr Guthrie, Chairman of the branch, presided, and in a few well-chosen words in opening pointed out the good work achieved by the Farmers' Union during the past year, and made a strong appeal for more general support than had yet been accorded. The first part of the evening's entertainment consisted of a concert programme; several of the leading district vocalists and instrumentalists taking part. After an interval of a few minutes, the Rangiwahia Amateur Dramatic Society staged the farce, "The Two Mrs Whites," in a most creditable manner. The district is to be congratulated in having resident in the district a gentleman of such musical and histrionic ability as Mr Rankin. This gentleman is ever ready to assist in promoting healthful and entertaining amusement for the people. A very pleasing feature in Mr Rankin's work is the great interest he takes in cultivating a taste for good music, and his work cannot but have a lasting effect, especially upon the young people. We have also a talented violinist in Miss Jamieson. who is ever ready to provide a treat for the people by her artistio rendering of good music. A dance followed the concert, the music being provided by Mr Rankin (piano); Miss Jamieson (violin), and Mr O'Dwyer (cornet).
