FOOTBALL.
0 Ihe management committee of the Menawatu Rugby Union met at Palmerston last evening. Present — Messrs Gibbons (in the chair), Fra ser, Armstrong, Freeman, McLean, Manning, Stagpoole, Torstensen, and Ihe secretary. The Near Zealand Rugby Union iviote intimating that in future when p.n enquiry is being hold into a case reported by a referee the plajer or players concerned shall have the right to call evidence in mitigation of punishment only. All evidence at an enquiry shall be taken, read over to witnesses and signed by them. Applications for • re-instatement from junior to third class was granted to S. Lucas (Old Boys). An application from H. Jones was again refused. The Foxton Swb-Ur-ion wrote asking for ruling re two disqualified last season,, but «»f which suspensions no notice had been ghen to the governing bodies. After considerable discussion the following resolution was Bassod, "That in the opinion of this nion the players mentioned were legally disqualified as from the date of committee meeting to the end of the term stated and that the proceedings of the Sub-Union must be guided by their own club contest rules." The Huimai Club were fined for naking a forfeit of their match against Old Boys Juniors last Saturday. Messrs Gibbons, McLean, Manning and Torstenson were appointed a subcommittee to draw up conditions for the Abraham Cup matches, which will be commenced immediately after the Hankins Shield fixtuies. The Selection Committee will be requested to pick a representative team to meet Foxton en 22nd. Mr Fraser was appointed manager for Foxton trip.
