Christina Clark, ex-general secretary of New South Wales Temperance Alliance, sued William Winn, a n-ember of the Alliance for £1000 damages for statements reflecting on hwr moral character. Sydney, June 11. At the Methodist Conference the Rev. Mearland moved that the New Zealand Conference be given permissive legislation to deal with stationing ministers either in the representative or ministerial session of the annual conference. He said there was a strong desire in New Zealand to possess that power. The Rev*. Lawry moved air amendment making it mandatory that the question should be transferred to the representative rc&sion. This, together with a number of amendmeits, was negatived and tho original motion was carried by 53 t« 20. On Re?. Garlaid's motion is was decided to "ender congratulations to the branches of Methodism in Japan on having accomplished union. THE WARDS. The Wards are all well.
