Applications will be received by Feilding Borough Council for position of junior clerk. At the Patlmerston Arbitration Court to-day, a case of interest localry was brought on by H. Goodin, of Awahuri. The facts are that some time ago, Goodin, while in the emNploy of R. Phillips, cutting firewood, on property belonging to Mr and Mrs Thos. Stewart, had a couple of fingers cut off. He now seeks compensation to the amount of £250. Mr A. G. Carty appears for Goodin, Mr Graham for Philips, Mr Sandilands for Mr Stewart, and Mr Haggitt for Mrs Stewart. Mr J. Cotter had a very unpleasant and serious experience in Princes street, Hawera, on Saturday. He was on the top of a ladder connecting up Mr Lawson's grocery shop with the electric light service. He was about ip join two wires whcih he held in one hand when his other arm touohed the iron pole, thus making a complete circuit to earth, and giving him 220 volts through his body. It was impossible for him to mov»:h»w»* completely doubled up. Luckily Mr Trevithick, the Electric Light Company's engineer, was handy. Mr Trevithick got up the pole and punched Cotter's arm out of contact with the iron pole, and then held him on the top of the ladder till , ha was sufficiently recovered to desoend to the ground. It was extremely fortunate for Cotter that someone of, experience and presence of nrind ws* on th* soene.— Star. I \
