LONDON' MARKETS. [PKB FBESB ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, June 10. The Department oF Industries and Commerce, has received the follow--1 ing cable from the High Commission--1 er, dated June Bth : — The upward movement in the mutton markets seem to be arrested; only small stocks of Canterbury are on hand, and there is no change in price to report. Lamb market, steady. The good ilemand continues- prices firm and unchanged. Boef :narket remains tirm and supplies are decreasing. Hind quarters 4d, fore quarters 3Jd. The butter market is steady. There is a good demand for the choicest Brands. Choicest New Zealand 99s per cwt. . The cheese market is quiet. Prices slightly weaker. White, manufactured, 665; coloured, 645. The hemp market is quiet, and only a small business is doing. There is only a small Quantity of good-fair grade on hand, but there is no change in price to report since last week. Cocksfoot seed market quiet, with small business doing. Wellington, June 10. The directors of the Bank of New Zealand, in their report and balancesheet for the year ended 31st March, state that the profits, after providing for expenses of management, and all bad and doubtful debts, and after naking provision for the annual donation to the provident fund and for bonus to staff an. £350,880 lbs 7d. From this has to be deducted the interest on guaranteed stock of i.40,000, leaving :C?.l 0,880 16s 7d. Of this sum the directors have allocated in reduction of hank premises and furniture £160,000, leaving a balance of profit for the year of £294,---880 16s 7d. from which has been paid interim dividend at 5 per cent, on nifcference shares, ±25,000 on ordinary shires, £-25.000 leaving available for distribution £244,880 16s 7d. Captain Edwin telegraphed at 12.55 p.m. to-day r— Moderate to strong northerly winds; glass fall. At th Presbyterian Church last night, the Rev. Geo. Budd announced that the special collection for debt reduction had: amounted to over £100, and the list would remain open for the remainder of this month. With three or four more such collections, the debt would cease to exist. The next mail for the United Kingdom and Europe via Vancouver, due at London 17th July, 1907, will close at the Feilding Post Office on Tuesday, the 11th day of June, 1907, at 11.45 a.m. The next inward mail via Vancouver is due at th© Feilding Post Office on 26th May and 23rd June.
