GREYMOUTH HARBOUR.
[FRB PRESS ASdOUIAHON.] Greymouth, May 28. There is at present a block in the export of timber from this port, and oves two million feet of timber is lying on the skids awaiting shipment. The sawmillers blame the Union Company for not providing sufficient steamers. The local manager of the company states that the Union Company is prepared to provide all the vessels required, but the harbour facilities are inadequate. He states that there are only two berths with deep enough water to load timber vessels at, and the new wharf haß no railway facilities for shunting. There is not sufficient rolling stock on the railways to keep up the supply of timber when two large tooats are loading. With three good berths he would guarantee to cope with all the timber trade offering. Something is needed urgently in the way of harbour improvements to remedy this serious hampering of an important and ever-increaßing industry. The sawmillers have orders in hand for over two million feet of white pine for Sydney. The matter will be considered at the Harbour Board meeting to-morrow. '
