BURNSIDE. Dunedin, May 15. At Bnrnside 2338 sheep were penned. There was but moderate entry, consisting of medium wethers and ewes. For real good mutton and heavy wethers last week's prices wore fully maintained, but for ordinary wethers and ewes values were easier. Quotations : — Extra heavy 24s to 27s 6d, prime wethers 21s to 235, medium to good 18s to 2ls 6d, light 15s 6d to 17s 6d, heavy ewes 255, prime 19s to 235, medium to good 15s to 17s 6d, aged and inferior 9s to 12s 6d, two extra pens of very heavy ewes 26s 3d ; one small pen of •Aethers 30s. Lambs— lol3 penned. The bulk of the yarding was made up of only moderate quality, with several special pens of extra good. The demand for real good sorts for export purposes was keen, and prices realised sho»ved an advance, best sorts fetching up to 18s 6d, extra 19s to 20s 6d, medium lis 6d to 14s, others 8s 9d to lis. Pigs— l6l yarded. The demand for small pigs was much easier, poorer sorts being difficult to quit and selling at greatly reduced prices. Prime quality baconers and porkers commanded good prices. Suckers 6s to 10s, slips lis 6d to 15s, stores 16s 6d to 19s 6d, light baconers £3 3s to £3 10s, porkers £2 ls to £2 3s, choppers up to 80s. Cattle— 2l3. Masterton, May 15. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Masterton stock sale today as follows: — In sheep a heavy yarding was submitted to a good attendance of buyers. Competition for all classes, except poor sorts of ewes in lamb, was keen, and prices showed an increase on those ruling at late sales. Several lots of extra good quality lambs were offered, and we had no difficulty in topping the market so far .his season. All wethers submitted met with a ready sale, as did empty ewes for turnips. The cattle yarded were mixed sorts, and although the better quality in all classes sold at full rates, inferior lots were hard to quit. Sheej_— Good turnip wethers 17a to 17s 7d ,fat ewes (best) 18s, others 14s lOd to 15s 9d, forward ewes 13s to 14s lOd, store owes 9s to lis, ewes in lamb (medium) lis to 13s; best lambs 15s to 15s Bd, others lis 3d to 14s 4d, medium sorts 9s to 10s 6d, ewe lambs 12s 6d to 13s 2d. Cattle— Fat cows £3 10s to £4 Bs, cows and calves £2 18s to £3 7s 6d, store oows 30s to £2 ss, cows in calf £2 5s to £3 7s 6d, heifers in calf £2 10s to £3; 18-month steera £2 to £2 Bs, 2J-year steers £3 to £3 12s 6d, tuliocks £4 5s to £5 ss. Masterton, May 15. * Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows on their Pahiatua sale: — A small lot of breeding ewes bred by the Balfour estate made 20s. An almost full yarding of cattle sold at prioes iv excess of those ruling of late. Forward bullocks £5 5s 6d, 3-year-old steers £4 5s to £4 16s, 2-year-old steers £2 5s to £4, fat cows £3 to £5, store cows 30s to £2 10s, weaners 13s. Sheep— Breeding ewes 13s lid to 16s 6d, and up to 18s Id and 20s for good sorts in good order; store wethers 16s 6d to 16s 7d, good hoggets 14s to 14s 7d, others 10s 6d to 12s, culls 6s to 8s 9d, lowconditioned store ewes 10s. j

Dalgety and Co., Limited, report having held their usual stock sale at Waipukurau, when they offered a good yarding of sheep and cattle to a large attendance of those interested. They realised the following prices : — Three to four-year-old bullocks £6, two-year-old steers £4 ss, 15s to 18---month steers £2 15s. Two-tooth ewes in lamb 16s 6d and 16s 7d, fat and forward ewes 13s 3d. A good line of woolly hoggets made 13s 6d and 13s 9d. Cull woolly hoggets 9s 4d. Messrs Abraham and Williams report: — We held our usual fortnightly sale at Hunterville, on Tuesday. There was a good yarding of both sheep a<nd cattle, most of which found a market at late ruling rates. Quotations: — Sheep: Fat and forward wethers 15s 9d to 16s lid, empty ewes 9s to 15s, culls 8s 9d, mixed lambs 10s 7d. Cattle: Fat bullocks £7 7s 6d, 18-month steers £2, 2-year steers £3 ls 6d to £3 15s, 3-year steers £4 3s 6d, forward cows £2 13s to £3 4s, fat cows £4 4s 6d to £4 16s 6d, weaners to 22s 6d, empty heifers £2 9s to £3 3s. Pigs : Slips 9s, porkers 18s.

Messrs Abraham and W r illiams report*.—At Palmerston on Thursday we had an exceptionally heavy yarding of both sheep and oattle. Competition was not as good as last week, and lambs were inclined __ to drag at auction, and several lines were passed, but these found purchasers soon after at satisfactory prices. A good clearance was effected in the cattle yards, but here again bidding was not as keen as it has been for the last few sales, and several lines of steers and fat cows had to be passe dout unsold. Quotations : — Fat and forward wethers (good) 19s to 19s lOd, others 15s 9d to 17s lOd, mixed 2-tooth ewes and wethers 14s 7d, fat ewes 14s 9d, ewes in lamb (mixed ages) 15s 9d to 16s 3d, ewe lambs 12s to 13s, wether lambs 10s 9d to 12s, cull lambs 6s 7d to 8s lOd, good weaners 22s 6d to 295, others 14s to 18s, small weaners 9s 6d to 12s, fat cows £3 10s to £4 ss, forward cows £2 10s to £3, store cows 25s to 30s, yearling steers 39s to £2 ls, 18-month £2 10s to £2 16s, 2_-year steers £3 10s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as .follows: — At our Palmerston sale yesterday we yarded a fair number of sheep, all of which were sold at satisfactory prices, with the exception of one pen. The following is a list of the prices realised: — Twotooth ewes in lamb 17s 4d, aged ewes in lamb lis 3d, shorn lambs lis 6d to 12s 9d, woolly lambs 13s Id, forward wethers 17s 6d. A line of 160 fat lambs realised 14s 2d, and a special line of 30 two-tooth Lincoln ewes (bred by McMaster's estate, Matauhoro) were sold to Mr J. W. Brady, of Bunnythorpe, at sgs. A small yarding of cattle met a rathedragging sale. Fat bullocks to £7 178 6d, 3-year-old bullocks in fair order £5 10s.
