tPBB PBEBS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, May 16. The Farmers' Union Conference reelected Mr L. It. Philips president. A resolution was carried unanimously that the time had arrived for the New Zealand Farmers' Union to form a separate political party, and run its own candidates for such seats as it considered desirable, and recommending to the Colonial Executive that the rule whic hbars discussion of political questions be abolished. It was further resolved to instruct the Auckland delegate to bring this matter very forcibly before the Colonial Conference. New Plymouth, May 16. The Farmers' Union Conference passed resolutions that a further endeavour be made to secure the right to leaseholders under the West Coast Settlement Reserves Act to secure the freehold; that in the future the setting aside of lands by way of endowment for education or other purposes lessees should have the option of obtaining the freehold ; that until all Crow nand native lands are settled, the Unio noppose interference with existing titles such as limiting areas ;J;hat Conference urge on the Government the necessity for a more expeditious roading in the backbjocks; and that the Conference oppose the referendum. A resolution was also carried opposing the extension of the local franchise to nonratepayers, urging alteration of the Valuation Act, a reduction of taxation on the necessaries of life, and a strong forward immigration policy.
