MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.
— ♦ Following is the conclusion of the business at yesterday's meeting of the Manawatu County Council: — At the lunch hour Mr Dalton left for the Rongotea sports, and Mr Masteis came to the meeting. | RESOLUTIONS. 1 The following motions were carried : — That Mr F. Purnell be appointel '■■ to act for this Council on the Assessn ent Court set up under the Go- . vcrnment Valuation of Land Act. j That H. D. Robinson be appointed Registrar of Dogs for the County; I that the fee be 2s 6d per dog for sheoj), cattle, and rabbit dogs, and os for other dogs. That tenders be called, to be in Ijy next meeting of the Council., for construction ot 38 chains of the west end of the drain leading from the Kaikokopu lake to the sea. That the Chairman be authorised to sign the plans prepared for the purpose of taking land one chain in vidth running in a westerly direction from the smaller and larger Kaikokopu lakes to the sea, for the purpose of a public drain. That a special meeting of the Council be held at 2 p.m. on Wedmsday, 13th March, (1) to make a special order to raise a loan of £2000 (and make security therefor by way of special rate) to provide share of the cost of constructing bridge over the Manawatu river j near Shannon ; (2) To make a special order to raise a loan of £500 (and make security therefor by way : of special rate) for the constiuction of the Koputara road; (3) To make a special order to declare that hem- ! lock be declared a noxious weed. [ That all property-owners on Pyke's road be requested to remove all gates and sliprails off the said roud. That tenders be called for two new rooms for the roadman's cottage at Himatangi. That tender of W. J. Neill be accepted ofr 700 dog collars. | GENERAL. In reply to the request from the | Rongotea Town Board, it was agreed to remit 50 per cent, of the rates I collected. It was reported by Cr, Kendall that some men were carting on the | County roads with five-inch tyres, i loads of 300 ft of timber. The clerk | was instructed to write to the offenders and point out that the narrow tyres were forbidden. A flax milling firm wrote offering 10s per ton for all flax growing on County's roads. The meeting then closed.
