MARKET REPORT.
Harry Palmer and Co. report: — There is now a decided improvement in the tone of the various markets. On Saturday we had a fair entry of pigs, every line being sold at improved prices. There is a good demand for stores and good lines of porkers. We quote : —Small weaners 6s 6d, 7s 6d, 8s 3d, 9s 6d; big weaners and sKps, 12s, 15s, 16s, 17s 6d ; stores. 18s to 21s ; light porkers, £1 ss, £1 8s 6d, £1 9s; heavy, 30s io 355. During the week we placed privately several breeding sows at £3 to £3 10s each. Very large entries of fowls are coming forward, the bulk of them being hens and half-grown cockerels. There is a demand for good table cockerels. We quote: — Ducks, 3s 3d to 4s 6d; prime table cockerels, os to 6s 6d; half-grown, from Is 6d to 3s 6d; hens, 2s to 3s 6d; turkeys, hens 4s each, gobblers 5s 6d to 7s 6d; fruit at per case; plums, 2s to 3s 6d; peaches, 6s to 7s; nectarines, 3s to 4s; apples, 2s to 3s 6d per case; tomatoes, 2s ; cucumbers, Is dozen ; onions 7s to 8s cwt; potatoes, 5s to 6s cwt; cabbages, Is 6d to 2s sack; pig pots toes, 2s to 2s 6d ; maize, 4s bushel ; bacon, 5d to 7d; hams, 6d to 7d. Good sound business in all other lines.
