ADDINGTON MARKETS.

Christchurch, Wednesday. At the Addington yards to-day there were fair entries of' stock and a good attendance. There was practically no change in the priceß of fat cattle, and the sheep again sold well. Fat lambs were somewhat easier, and the fat sheep market opened at about the previous week's rates, and except for unfinished wethers prices improved towards the close. There was an active demand for all classes of pigs, and prices were firmer. Good dairy cows were in demand, but there was little business done in store cattle. Store Sheep— There were not many lines of store sheep on offer, but all classes met with a very good sale, though the demand was not quite so keen as of late. The principal sales were 94 4, 6, and 8 tooth ewes 18s 9d, 300 broken mouth 12s 6d, 238 2 and 4 tooth wethers 20s lOd, 202 at 20s, 2, G, and 8 tooth Merino wethers 14s to 14s 6d, 212 half bred ewe hoggets 18s 3d, 122 mixed sexes 16s 6d, 112 'fats 16s sd, 207 at 15b 9d, 84 at 15b 4d, 58 at 14s lOd, 441 shorn at 11b 9d. Fat Sheep — The yarding of fat sheep was a medium one in point of numbers, and of average quality. The sale opened at prices equal to those ruling last week, there being a better demand for export. Ewes were in short supply, and these, as well as prime wethers, improved in price towards the close of the sale, but unfinished wethers did not sell as well as the previous week, and a number were taken by graziers. The range of prices was — For prime wethers 23s 6d to 275, others 20s to 235, prime heavy ewes 20s to -21s 10s, medium 17s Od to 19s 6d, aged 14s to 17s, prime Merino wethers 17s 4d to 20s sd. Fat Cattle— The yarding of fat cattle totalled 154, mostly of good to prime quality. Owing to the numbers, the bidding was not brisk, but prices showed little or no change from the previous week. Steers brought £6 to £13, heifers £5 2s Gd, to £8 17s Gd, andjextra to £10, cows £4 17s , Gd, to £9 17s Gd, equal to 22s to 24s for prime, and 17s and 21s for inferior to medium per 100 lbs. Veal calves sold at 7s 6d to £3, according to size and quality. Store and Dairy Cattle— The few odd lots of store cattle offered met with a poor sale. Good dairy cows were in request, and sold up to £8, and six heifers averaged £.
