STRAND COMEDY COMPANY
The J.P. Such a treat as was afforded tbe local publio last night was too rare to be missed, consequently this popular company was favoured by an almost overflowing house on the occasion of their first visit here. The M J.P." bristles with fun from tbe rise to the fall of tbe curtain. So mirth-provoking were several complications, that the audience simply screamed with laughter. The first act introduces the famous male impersonator, Miss Florence Lloyd, who is married to Charlie Vivian who has a rich uncle, Casar Montague, the "J.P" (Mr J. J. Dallas). The uncle springs a surprise visit upon them at the hotel, and in order tbat he may be kept in ignorauce.the young lady assumes the role of a man. From this point complication after complication is heaped upon the young couple, each one soliciting screams of laughter from tbe audi ence. Tbe play continues and at each moment brings increased trouble until tbe last act closes with tbe winning of the uncle into tbeir favour and a perfect upderstauding of all the mysteries. To describe the comedy would entail considerable space, sufficient to say tbat many companies bave visited here during the last few years, but we do not recollect in one instance where an audience enjoyed such a highly talented production. Should we have the good fortune to again be visited by this company they can rest assured that the reception will be a most cordial one.
