Lord Hawke's Team in Palmerston.
Palmerston N., This Day. The crioket match, Lord Hawke's team v. Manawatu, commenced today before a large attendance. The wicket is in excellent condition. The Englishmen won the toss and batted. At the luncheon adjournment tb~9 wickets were down for 128 nni's. The fielding was loose, and the bowling weak. The English cricket team arrived from Wanganui last night, and were accorded a hearty welcome by a number of leading citizens, including members of the Borough Council, and cricket enthusiasts. Mr Warner, the captain, left the train at Feilding and was the guest of Mr Pharazyn during the night. The match commences to-day at 12 o'clock, instead of 11 as previously announced. An adjournment will ta&e place at 1.80 o'clock for luncheon at the Royal Hotel. To-morrow the game will be continued at 11 o'clock.
