OFFICERS RETIRING.

Falconer, in charge of the Torpedo Corps, have j retired from the service. It is under- ) stood that Colonel Messenger will be [. replaced by Major Moore, of the I Royal Engineers, who came out to the colony a year or two ago as Staff , Officer of Artillery. Capt. W. Coyle, ! inspector of submarine mining, Auck- [ land, will temporarily fill the position j occupied by Capt. Falconer. Lieut.-Col. Newall, in charge of '' the Wellington district, is also to . retire and other changes are pending.
