DISASTROUS FIRE.

Loss of Life. Telegraph. Press Association Copyright London, June 10. An appalling fire occurred at the General Electric Lighting Company's five floored warehouse in Queen Victoria street, London, at five o'clock this afternoon. The buildings were 70 feet high, and the fire escapes being only 50ft. were unable to relie^ c a number of girls on the upper floors. Several jumped 60 feet into tarpaulins held in the street. Seven were previously hurt, two were uninjured, and eight girls and one boy were suffocated. Several heroic rescues were made by firemen.
