A SERIOUS CHARGE.

Telegraph. Press Association, Copyright Russell, June 10. Yesterday Takarihi Kaupeka was charged before Mr Bloomfield, S.M., with attempting on January 28th to murder Agnes Tunui, a native woman with whom he had been living, by firing at her with a revolver. He pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial. It came out in the evidence that Kaupeka had not been near Whangaruru since he left there, but walked through to Auckland, arriving there in February. He visited Waikato, Rotorua, Wellington, Napier, Christchurch, and other places, and then decided to go back.
