« . The annual report and balancesheet of the A and P. Association has now been printed and circulated amongst members. In their report the committee say that the past twelve months' work has been satisfactory in all respects. Whilst a considerable number of absolutely necessary improvements in the way of additions and alterations to buildings, fences, etc., on the showground have been carried out, your committee has adhered to the policy of care and economy in all matters of expenditure, with the result that a further substantial reduction has been made in the mortgage to Messrs McHardy Bros., and the position of the Association generally strengthened. The balance-sheet shows the receipts to amount to £3,626 15s 2d, the expenditure £2,473 14s, the surplus for the year thus being £1,153 Is 2d. Of this amount £900 was paid off the McHardy loan, which now stands at £2,257 17s 6d, and £241 was spent on improvements. The value of the assets is estimated at £8,143, and the liabilities at £3,225. The net profit on the November Show was £782. The value in prize money and trophies given was £980, and members' subscriptions amounted to £934, gate money and stands producing £1,125. On March 31st, 1902, the bank overdraft was £955 3s lid as compared with £964 7s 1 Id at the same date last year. — Manawatu Times.
