Te Mare Eruption.
(Per Press Association.) Auckland, November 17. The eruption at Te mare on Friday commenced about midday, the first one lasting 40 minutes, succeeded by another about 3 p.m., which continued until dusk. Both were very interesting. A party working on the slope of the Tongariro Mountain were compelled to beat a hasty retreat upon tne first out* break, being rather near the scene of operations. They report that fire accompanied the first eruption, and a very severe earth quiver. These outbursts are looked upon quite calmly — in fact witb favor, being regarded as safety valves for this volcanic region. _______«»•»
