Wool and Produce Markets.
The N.Z.L. and M. Company, Ltd., report for the week ending Friday, 24th July, as follows: — Wool.— The fourth series of sales in London closed on 21st inst. with a very firm tone. The cablegram seat by oar London office on the same day, and published, showed that coarse wools have folly maintained their values, ■while merino and fine crossbred are weaker. Locally there is a good demand but prices rule somewhat lower. Good crutcbings are still enqnired after, and command late rates. Sheepskins.— Good enquiry is maintained for all lines coming forward, and full prices are readily secured. We have disposed of large catalogues during the week at following rates:— Butchers' green skins, early shorn, 4s to 4b 6d ; medium to good, 3s 6d to 3s 9d ; country dry skins, prime, well-wooled, s£d to s£d ; extra prime ssd ; good. 4£d to sd ; medium, S^d to 4£d. Rabbitahins are enquired for at late rates. Hides. — There is rather better demand in consequence of the restrictions placed on the importation of bides from Australia, Prices are, however, unchanged. We quote— For well-cared-for ox, 17s and cows, 8s each ; light and damaged hides, Id to 2d per lb. Tallow.— The local market is over supplied, and consignments are extremely difficult to place. We quote — Prime mutton, .£168 ; mixed and medinm, £14 to £15; inferior and badly rendered, £13 10s to £14 per ton. Our London office has jnst cabled to the effect that the market there is slightly weaker. Fungns is dull of sale ! value, nominally, is 3d to B£d per lb. Wheat.— There is a slight decline in price of whole fowl wheat, which we now quote at 3s 4d to 3s 6d. Enquiry for milling parcels has eased off a bit, but late quotations still hold good. Oats. — These continue dull of sale. Prices are, however, unchanged in the South Local quotations are for good short feed, 2s Id to 2s 2d per bushel. Maize. — There is no demand, and prices are very low. We quote 3s to 3s 3d. Chaff .—Owing to the unsettled state of the weather supplies have been rather erratic, and we have managed to place odd tracks at late rates. There is a large quantity offering, however, and prices have eased off somewhat. We quote prime oaten sheaf at 65s to 67s 6d per ton, sacks extra, ex truck. Potatoes.— There is not much demand, and prices rule |about the same. Good table potatoes are worth about 65 per ton. _____ __^_ _
