Feilding Wesleyan Church.

A large and very representative meeting of the congregation of the Wesleyau church was held last evening after the usual weekly service. The Rev. W. H. Judkin was in the chair, and called upon Mr Carthew (senior circuit steward), convener of the meeting, to explain its objects. Mr Carthew dealt very fully and clearly with the matter in hand — viz., that of either erecting a new church or of adding to the present structure, and he pointed out that something must be done to supply the wants of a largely increasing congregation, and that that something must be done at once. Personally heexpressed himself in favour ol: the addition, but was willing to go with the majority and assist in the efforts put forth in either direction. It was stated that the ladies had a sum of .COO in their hands towards erecting a new church, ancl not for church extension, and that the subscription lists (exclusive of the above) total fUC 4s Gd. It was resolved, That Messrs Carthew and Cobbe be supplied with copies of the list, and within the next fortnight use their endeavours to increase the amount and report at the next meeting. It was proposed and carried, That a committee, consisting of the Rev. Jud K'jns and Messrs Carthew, Cobbe, Hicks, aud Milson, obtain an estimate of the cost of erecting a new church, somewhat similar to the Marton Church, 30 by GO and report on the 2Dth inst. After a great deal of discussion and conversation it was resolved, " That a new churoh be built as proposed at a previous meeting, at a cost of uot more than £4-">0." The Rev Judkins then addressed those present on the necessity of all assisting to mako the erection of a new church an accomplished fact before the winter sets in, nnd for that purpose to be prepared to sacrifice some little things, and in that way hasten on the work.
