Mr Robert GardneT, Chairman of tho Flaxmillera' Association, and Mr ,T. iSymoni, of Foxton, also a member of that body, waited upon the Harbour Board thti afternoon with reference to the reduction of charges on the hemp •cot from Wellington. They urged that the charge* for re opening bales, dump* ing, repacking, and xtorinp flax should be reduced in order that millers might be able to make tho industry pay. The Board decided to reduce the charges for dumping from la 8d to Is Gd, for repack tog from 2« to 1« 9d, and for storing from 3d per bale for the first two week*, and 2d per bale for subsequent werki, to a not form charge ot 3d per bale per <reck. From n calculation made by the Secretary of tho Harbour Board on lstt year's hemp trade, this is a eonccs■ton by the Board of L 52?.
