The Basonicas

♦ The talented young members of the " Baeonions " played to moderate audiences in Feilding on Monday and Tuesday nights. The " Basins Quartettes " by the Basonicas were, of coarse, the principal items in the programmes, and the skill of the performers and the novelty of hearing sweet music extracted from pie-dishes and bowls, made that part of the show interesting as well as surprising. Bepeated encores testified the approbation of the audience. The comic songs by Mr J. L. Beck, and his performance on the " Musical Jars " were much admired. Mr Joy amused ibe audience with his song of '* Billy Stutters." He was really very funny, and excited roars of laughter. The American double clog dance by Messrs Joy and Beck was very good. Mrs Watt sang " The Alpine Horn " with sweetness and taste, and was complimented with an encore. Miss Watt sang " Half Mast High " very nicely, and the duet by Mrs and Misß Watt, " The Wind on the Harp," was so well appreciated that an encore was demanded The other parts ot the programme require no speoial mention. Of course the performance was not without faults, but these were in a measure caused by the scanty attendance.
