JOHNSONVILLE STOCK SALE.
Johnsonville, January 9. The beef entered for the day's sale was of good quality. The smallest bullocks made best price, considering freight. The heavy cattle were too large for the trade, and sold at rela«. tive lower values. Some grand wethers came forward and sold well. Some of the ewes were only half fat. Lambs were fairly well competed for and made late rates. Pigs were at lower values, but the stores were a rough lot and in a low condition. Small beasts made 14/-, and large cattle 12/6 the lOOlbs. Mutton brought If d per lb. The following prices were realised : — Cattle.— Bullocks, £5 7/6 to £6 2/6 ; averaging £5 1 1/6 ; others averaged £5 7/6 and £5 5/- \ one pen of very small bullocks £i 17/6. JSheep.— Best wethers averaged 12/---and others 9/-; best ewes, 10/- ; others, 7/1 to 7/9 ; lambs, 6/4 to 7/6. Pies. --Small baconers, 27/- to 37/6 ; porkers, 18/- to 23/-; stores, 7/6 to 14/- ; small pigs, <sd.
