George Thomas and Co. report produce prices as follows : — In oats there is an increased tendency to firmness, owing to the active operations of the Australian markets, and it is now almost impossible to obtain a quota* tion under Is 6d for good feed at Southern ports, and Is 8d to Is 9d for prime short Canadians : local values rule from Is 10d£d to 2b Id per bushel. The Sydney demand has also agitated the ruling rates for potatoes, pollard and bran, all of which show an upward change of 5s per ton all round. There have. been a; few inquiries for salt butter at 6d to 6&d for local consumption. A fair volume of business is being transacted in Italian and perennial rye and cocksfoot grass seeds. Supplies of . onions '" greatly exceed demands, and inferior samples are almost valueless ; good dry keeping descriptions command £4 per ton. Stocks of. last season's hams and bacon are almost exhausted, and we look during the next fortnight for first parcels of the new cure. Poultry is as follows: — Fowls, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; ducks, 3s 6d ; geese, Us 6d ; and turkeys, 8s per pair.
