The attendance of Home and foreign buyers was large, and tbe competition for all lots was animated ; 7400 bales were offered. Greasy wool is higher than at the close of last sales ; scoured Wool being from ld to l£d higher. The present series of wool sales will close February 17. The shipments by the Hankow, Aberdeen, Tongariro, and Shannon have been admitted, whilst that by the Avenger has been excluded. War rumours have created panics on the Paris and Vienna bourses, and have ; also affected tbe London Stock Exchange. The Daily News reiterates its statement that the Imperial Government has apprehension that war is imminent. The Imperial Conference will be opened en the 2 lnd ef March next. Aden, January 26. A body of Abysinians, under the rebel chief Ras Alouta, attacked the town of Massowah. In the conflict five Italians and 200 Abysinians were killed. Rome, January 25. In consequence of the Abysinian attack on the Italiau settlement at Mas* so wah, large reinforcements will be sent to the garrison of that place. Two corvettes will shortly sail for Massowah. Washington, January 24. In the Senate to-day a bill was passed empowering the President to take measures for the protection of American Fishermen. In the debate on the question several speakers made violent attacks on the British Government and threatened war with Englund if the seizure of American fishing vessel* by the Cana* dian Government was continued.
