[PEE UNITED PBEPfI ASSOCIATION.! Whllington, This Dnj. A man named John Web bey, dairyman, aged 37 yearn, was found dead at the bottom of a cliff at Oriental Buy, this morning. He left bis home in search of cows at 5 o'clock this morning. It is believed that he had an epileptic fit, and fell over the embankment. An inquest will be held. A fire occurred in Pirie- street at 1 o'clock this morning, which destroyed two cottages occupied by Messrs Hook and Dimes respectively. Ross, This Day. There was some excitement here last night about the reefs, in consequence of which 24 shares in prospectors' and adjoining leases ro>e from £100 to £500. Auckland, This Day. Last night Constable Abrams arrested a natiye named Mehana, a lunatic, for having murdered a native woman named Te 'ukemata at Te Ngae, Ohineinutu, that day. The body was afterwards buried, but the constable had it exhumed and an inquest will beheld. The murderer was at one time in the asylum. On being questioned the reason he gave was that the spirit told him to kill the woman. Wellington, This Day. A case of infanticide occurred at Taueru yesterday. A young girl named Annie Anderson was confined of a child, which was subsequently found dead with marks of violence on the body. At the Supreme Court this morning, Annie Lynch on a charge of making false representation under the Marriage Act was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonmenfc" _____
