FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED. (BT TELEGRAPH.) Oamaru, Juoe 3. Tbe body of a woman partly dressed was found in a creek near Peebles yesterday morning by a man employed oa the water- race. The body has been identified as that of the w : fe or Alexander Beat' ie. It is thought that the deceased and her .husband were not living on good terms, and about a month ago I'eattie wus arrested and bound over to keep tlie peace for threatening to burn down the house of a neighbour in whose house be hod found his w'fe. A jury was empanelled, and the evidence went to show that when the woman was taken out of the wa er a handkerchief was found to be tightly tied round the neck, and there was a wound in the throat and a bruise on the face. The inquiry was adjourned.
