NEW PLYMOUTH
July 4. Yesterday morning Omata was visited by a whirlwind, doing much damage. A house was considerably damaged, the chimney being knocked down, and the roof torn off. Several chains of fencing were blown down, and two haystacks and a strawstack demolished. A number of trees were torn up by the roots, and other damage done in the neighbourhood.
