AUCKLAND.
July 4.
During a gale yesterday the schooner Mary Helen and the cutter Helen were sunk, the yacht City of Naples was smashed up, and Mr Henderson's yacht Rita was slightly damaged. At Kawakawa, Bay of Islands, during the gale, one of the Coal Company's barges, with 120 tons of eoal at th loading ground, filled and rolled over, causing lhe loss of 100 tons of coal.
There is some suspicion of Winiala being implicated in another murder previous to Packer's muider. Winiala was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for stealing a saddle from one Collins, at Onehunga. The evidence on which he was convicted was given by another Maori, and shortly after the expiration of Winiata's sentence this native disappeared, and has never been heard of since. Winiata gave out that he died at Mangere, but recent inquiries reveal the fact that no one else knows anything about his death.
