FIRST INGLESIDE IN 1945 A JOLLY EVENING The first Franklin Caledonian Society fngleside for 1945 was held in the Oddfellows’ hall on Saturday last, when a happy crowd gathered to spend a few hours together. The Chief, Mr S. J. McConnell, after being piped in, and the National Anthem sung, extended a welcome to all and in handing Hie programme to Mr G. Spence, Chieftain and acting master of ceremonies for the evening, said be hoped everyone would enjoy themselves to the fullest. Songs were given by Mrs Oat,ridge, Bombay, who sang beautifully “Where ere You Walk” and “Bless This House.” The Irish Jig was danced by Miss Helen Sibley. from Christchurch. who is ou a visit lo Pukekohe with her parents, and are the guests of Mr and Mrs G. Spence. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Mrs Sibley. A dainty supper was served by the. ladies' committee and dancing continued until midnight. when all joined bands anil brought tlu 1 evening lo a close by the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.”
