The Southern Group uf the Waitc-
mala Provincial Executive of (lie Women’s Division, held a rally in the Oddfellows’ hall. Tuakau. recently. There was a splendid attendance of members from the various branches in the group. The annual meeting was held at 11.30 a.m.. Mrs K. D. Orr. group leader, presiding. She gave an account of Ihe year's activities. The same officers, were re-elected as fol-
lows: Group leader. Mrs K. D. Orr: vice-leader, Mrs Lyons; secretary, Mrs A. G raw ford.
The afternoon function commenced at 1.30 and was opened by Mrs J. 11. Henderson, president of Wailemala provincial executive. Mrs Judson, of Auckland, gave a report of the week that the Women's Division had charge of the patriotic shop in Auckland. An interesting programme of singing and elocutionary items was enjoyed, the following being the artists: Recitation. Mrs R. Ewing (WhAngara la) ; song, Mrs R. N. Crawford (Onewhero); song, Mrs H. A. Madill (Tuakau) : song in character. Miss R.
Lawson (Tc Kolianga) : reading, Mrs K. h. Orr (Pukekawa) : clog dance, Miss Perycr (Opuatia). The eight competition tables entered by Hie different branches, created much interest The .judges were Mesdamcs Morgan and Field who awarded the. first prize to Tuakau and Pukekawa with Opuatia next. Mrs Orr thanked I,lie judges and
resented each with a shoulder spray
The secretary of I he group, as represenlalivc of all the branches, presented Mrs Orr with a bouquet as a token of esteem and affection. During the afternoon, wool to he knitted up for the merchant navy, was distributed to the branches. TE KOHANGA BRANCH THE ANNUAL MEETING The twelfth annual meeting of Te Kohanga Division was held in Tc Kohanga hall last week, when Mrs Parry presided over a fair attendance. The meeting opened with the recitation of the creed and the intercession prayer. Tiie president’s report stated that the past year had been quite satisfactory. The attendance had been good considering the difficulties of transport. Donations had been made to
the housekeeping fund, the hospital comforts, the rest home, the Makogai leper appeal and the soldiers’ parcels (local hoys). The balance sheet, prepared by Mrs Ormond, was presented and showed a satisfactory position, considering the difficulties of the times. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mrs If. M. E. Lawson; vicepresidents, Mesdames Hagan and Bond; secretary and treasurer,‘Miss R. Lawson; committee, Hie above officers and Mesdames Hagan, Ingram and Parry; delegates to Waitemata provincial executive, Mesdames Ormond and Parry. Afternoon tea was served - '-by the junior members. . Competitions resulted: Best bloom, Miss J. Parry I, Mrs J. Lawson 2; highest points, Mrs.S. Parry I, Mrs Ingram and Mrs McGowan (tie) 2.
