WOMEN’S DIVISION
THE PUKEKOHE BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Pukckolie branch of the Women’s Division was held last Thursday in Hie Parish hall. There was a splendid attendance, apologies being received from several members'. Two new members were enrolled. The president, Mrs P. T. Field, presided and gave a hearty welcome to all. The National Anthem and the Division song were sung and the creed recited.
The president gave a report on the Division shop held in Auckland and the result of the effort. Members were notified of the group meeting lo lie held on April 22. An invitation was received from I lie Pukekohe Women’s Institute lo attend their birthday celebrations at 7.30 p.m. on May 3. Competition Winners Competition winners for the day were as follows':—Bowl of autumn leaves and berries, Mrs Deed I. Mrs Wymer 2, Mrs Field 3: best bloom, Mrs Reynolds 1, Mrs Golding 2, Mrs Wymer 3: socks, Mrs W. R. Miller i, Mrs Seed 2. Mrs Reynolds 3: tomato sauce, Mrs Deed 1, Mrs Clayton 2, Mrs Grump 3. The surprise packet donated by Mrs Reynolds was won by Mrs Ingle. Winners of points prizes for the year were as under:—Knitting. Mrs Lewis 1, Mrs J. Miller 2: cooking, Mrs Elliott I, Mrs Field 2: flowers (open class). Mrs Wymer I. Mrs W. R. Miller 2, Mrs Field 3: novice class. Mrs Elliott 1, Mrs Golding 2: best bloom, Mrs Reynolds 1, Mrs Golding 2, Mrs Bilkoy, sent 1 . 3. Mrs FieW, in her annual report, referred to the useful work done by members of the branch, in knitting for the mercantile marine, collecting for Ihc combined orphanages, the giving of donations to Hie leper fund, the residential nursery, the rest home and soldiers’ parcels. Substantial donations had been made to the housekeeping fund and community chest. In concluding she' thanked members for
their assistance, loyally and co-opera-tion during her term of office. The treasurer’s report, presented by Mrs J. Fausctt, showed a credit balance in hand. The New Officers The retiring president was Ihe recipient of a beautiful bouquet and a hanging mirror. Mrs D. Keane, in making Hie presentation, spoke of ihe excellent work Mrs Field had done during her four years in office. She had sel 'Mi example for all, and she asked her to accept the gift as a token of love, and appreciation from all the members. The secretary and treasurer received bouquets as an appreciation oi .their work. Mrs D. Keane occupied the chair during the election of officers, which resulted as follows: President, Mrs J. Fausctt: vice-presi-dents. Mosdaincs Field, Keane, Deed and Golding: secretary. Mrs L. Reynolds (re-elected) : treasurer, Mrs Adams: committee. Mesdamcs Cronin, Lord. Wallers, Ferguson, Grump, Bitkey. junr, and Lewis. Duties for committee members were allotted as follows: Surprise packet, Mrs Grump: trading table. Mrs Wallers and Mrs Golding; competition stewards, best bloom. Mrs BiJkey: knitting, . Mrs Lewis: cooking. Mrs Cronin: flowers. Mrs Deed and Mrs Field: pianist. Mrs Keane: reporter. Mrs Lord: hostesses, Mrs Field and Mrs Keane. Competitions for the May meeting will lie: Knitted socks, vase of flowers. lies! bloom, and biscuits, three each of three varieties. A dainty afternoon lea was served al Ihe close of the business.
