OBITUARY

MR J. G. MUNRO DEATH IN HONOLULU News has been • received of the death at Honolulu of Mr James Gustavus Munro, formerly of Clevedon. Mr Munro, who was 70 years of age, was a son of the Jate Mr and Mrs George Munro, of Clevedon. He went to the Hawaiian Islands in 1900 to engage in the cattle industry. For many years he was superintendent of the Hawaiian Homes Commission, controlling the scheme initiated by the Hawaiian Government for placing the Hawaiian natives on the land. He was a keen botanist, and plants discovered by him in the islands bear his name. He is survived by his wife. He was a brother of Mr G. G. Munro, of Clevedon, and Mr Robert Munro, of Pokeno.
