OVER £3OO IN HAND

PUNI PATRIOTIC FUND GROWS

No. 1 GROUP FUNCTION

The Puni Patriotic Committee’s fund continues to grow. Its quota ol‘ the 19 42 All Purposes Appeal is £4OO, and to date over £3OO is in hand- with hut a third of the year gone. The fund was augmented on Tuesday night last by £75, as a result of a dance arranged by the No. i group. There was a very large attendance and a most pleasant evening resulted. The music by Warren’s orchestra was all that could be desired. Very much appreciated extras were played by Miss Birdie .Tones and Mr C. Oatland. Mr Oatland proved a capable master of ceremonies. The “Mr Gallagher and Mr Sheen” specialists, Messrs Ben Keary and Dick Irwin, again proved popular in their items in which they introduced a number of Puni Home Guard personalities. They were recalled several times. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Mrs F. Dewhurst. Competitions were won as follows: Table cloth, Miss Spence; lamb. Mrs A. Hulme; cake, Mrs Antordvich: aeroplane, Master Plumer. During an interval, Mr J. Hoe thanked all who had contributed toward the success of the evening. An appetising supper, served by the ladies, was enjoyed.
