On Friday last the members of (he Lady Galway Guild, under Mrs A. IT. Salter (chairman), endeavoured to heal the Maori women’s effort. They did, and went 100 per cent better, the total sum made during the day and evening amounting to £ll. a splendid achievement, and great credit is due to Mrs Salter and her helpers for the energy and work pul into the effort. Victory “V’s” on I tic footpath in charge of young people, claimed all the spare coppers of passers-by io adorn the V sign. The money realised is to he used for the purpose of paying for the expenses in farewelling Papakura soldiers on leave.
