SUPPLY OF WATER
CAMP AND COUNCIL ar rangements completed for gases of emergency In cases of emergency the Military Gamp system and the Borough Council supply are to be at the disposal of either party, reported the Mayor, Mr S. Evans, ‘at the Papakura Borough Council meeting-this week. Mr Evans said he had had a conference with Ihc Public Works Department's engineer and the camp authorities which resulted in a reciprocal arrangement between the department and the council whereby in the case of a breakdown of the town supply, the council will be enabled to use the camp supply which was to be interlocked with the town supply, somewhere near where the two systems crossed, the valve of which would lie controlled by the Department. The Mayor went on to say that the price each parly would pay for water was satisfactory. Mr D. .1. Graham said any basis of agreement as to how to assess the price should be the subject of more details. The Mayor said the camp would get the water at the same price as before. namely 9d per 1000 gallons. “If it is a l reak of four or five hours duration a thousand or two gallons’ would lie neither here nor there. The camp will do the work and we will find the material. It should be a great convenience to ratepayers,” concluded the Mayor. The Mayor’s action was endorsed.
