CARS ON CROSSINGS

PARKED OUTSIDE SHOPS COMPLAINT BY OWNER The owner of a shop on the Great South Road in a letter read at the Papakura Borough Council meeting this week, complained that cars were constantly parked in front of her shop on the pedestrian crossing. The owner. Mrs B. A. Knight, stated that to gel tier van out the other day the driver had to back the van along the footpath. The parked car was locked and could not be shifted. This practice of parking on this pedestrian crossing, stated Airs Knight, happened as many as six times on a Saturday morning, and consequently someone had to be asked to shift. Mr F. 11. Brownhill said cars should be parked :! Oft. from the crossing. Mr D.- J. Graham said the solution of the matter would be for the council to prepare its parking area near the fire station and get people to use it. It was decided to place a white line 10ft. from the crossing and to ask the traffic inspector to see that cars were parked other than on the pedestrian crossing.
