NATIONAL APPEAL
COMFORTS FOR SOLDIERS T 0 NIG HT ’ S ME E TIN G The appeal of Ihe Y.M.C.A. and Salvation Army for £IOO,OOO for the welfare of members of His Majesty’s New Zealand Forces which will be launched in March was brought before Hie Franklin County Council on Monday. The 'National Patriotic Fund Board advised that Hie appeal would be made during Ihe week ending March 16 and gave particulars of the administration of the amount raised. II was stated that the board would administer the fund and make grants for the various works in train under the direction of these bodies. The council decided lo refer Ihe matter lo the Franklin Patriotic Council to organise the appeal in Ihe Franklin area.
A public meeting will be held in the Masonic hall supper room, Pukekohe, tonight at 8 o’clock, to consider what steps Pukekohe is to take to assist in the appeal and also the campaign for recruits for the third Echelon and reinforcements.
