SHEEP DOG TRIALS
WHANGAPE-TUAKAU CLUB FIXTURE TO BE HELD The annual meeting of Ihe Wliun-gape-Tuakau Dog Trial Club was held in the Onewliero hall lasi week, the president, Mr E. B. Baker, presiding over an attendance of 16. After some discussion it was decided to proceed with the trials on Mr C Smeed’s property, Tuakau, on April 2, 8 and i.
The programme of events has not been finalised but will be substantially Ihe same as at the trials lasi year. In his report the president congratulated the club on the success of last year’s trials and paid tribute to the committee for the excellent organisation of the events. “It was proved, the report stated, that the combining o- the Whangape and the Tuakau clubs was a step in the right direction. The success of local dogs was most gratifying, the report concluded, and showed that the dogs in the district compared favourably with those from any part of the Island. The balance sheet showed the club to he in a strong financial position. The following principal officers were elected: Patron, the Hon. W. Lee Martin; president, Mr E. B. Baker; vicepresidents, Messrs W. .T. Saunderson, .1. Watson and E. W. Fielder; ground marshall, Mr J. Watsnn; dog steward, Mr E. V. Tout; sheep steward, Mr A. Parsons; timekeepers, Mr J. Dromgool, Mr P. G. R. Taylor and Mr E. V. Tout; lion, auditor, Mr C. R. Sturrock; secretary and treasurer, Mr F. C. Bagnall: assistant secretary, Mr E. A. Parsons. Strong executive and general committees were appointed.
