Recruits medically examined at 1 hat date had been dealt wil.ii and classified as follows, the figures as at February 3 being shown in parentheses : —Fit, J 8.771 (17,701); temporarily unlit. 2532 2 i!)5) : permanently unfit, .'ll2B (29-i3) : in reserved occupations and therefore not available, I.7(hi (.1585): sent fo camp, - 180 (J 5.751)) : balance available for posting to camp, 2(585 (2102). Details for the three military districts are as follows :
WHEN CIVIL SERVANTS ARE CALLED UP Complaint has been made to "The Wellington Rost" that an employee in a Government Department was given insufficient time to attend to tiis private affairs after having been called up for military service. II was stated that the man received notice at 11 r. hi. 1,0 enter camp llie following morning. Being married, he had but liltle lime lo attend to his private affairs before complying with the notice, and he applied for the rest, of the day off. This request is said to have been refused. On inquiry being made into Hie matter by-“ The Post" it was learned that the general policy is to give a man who is called up reasonable time in which to adjust; his affairs. Also, as soon as he is called up he is granted all annual holiday leave due to him. He may lake the leave or lie may take the salary or wages due to him for it.
