Queen Carnival Notes

POSITIONS OF THE CANDIDATES For the first time lit the Pupakura queen carnival campaign, the four flags were displayed this morning in their'l'espective positions. The order of precedence is as follows:- — 1, Karaka Queen (green and gold), Miss Myrtle Costar. 2. —United Districts (blue and silver), Miss Jessie Parker.

3. —Business queen (purle and gold), Miss Ailsa Cartwright. 4. —Sports queen (red and black), Miss Margery Johnson.

The remaining few days will witness considerable activity, with strenuous efforts by the committees interested. The friends of the United Districts Queen’s organised a social and dance in Hunua hall on Saturday evening. In spite of the inclement weather, tire attendance was encouraging. Artists from the city entertained the company with an excellent programme. A dance was also held.

What promises to he one of the highlights of the carnival is being staged by the management of the Star theatre on Thursday evening. A high

class concert programme of outstanding merit is to be presented, including such popular artists as June and Pal Barson. This is under the auspices of the Sports Queen’s committee.
