Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union.

ANNUAL MEETINGS HELD THE HARRISVILLE BRANCH ELECTION OF OFFICERS Annual meetings of branches of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union were held recently. At the llaiTisville meeting, after the creed had been recited, the Division song was sung for the first time. The treasurer read a very satisfactory balance sheet, while a review ot the year's activities proved that members were keen and interested in the work of the Division, also that several new members had .joined the branch. Ilarrisville being the "hostess” branch of the group, the major portion of the work consisted in the

duties pertaining to such a branch, there having been the group rally, drama festival, various group conferences and the visit of the Dominion president, Mrs Wickham, and the inauguration of the dressmaking classes in the North Island. In addition a successful flower and crafts show was held by branch members. The past ear, therefore, had been a busy one.

Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: President, Mrs W. F. Collins; secretary and treasurer, Mrs W. Barnaby; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. Gubb, senr. and R. Durrant. A third is to be elected at next meeting; delegates, president, secretary and vice-presidents. Mrs Bert Mills was the winner of the points prize.

MANGATAWHIRI BRANCH The annual meeting of the Mangatawhiri branch of the W.D.F.U. was held in the Mangatawhiri hall. The president, Mrs Bluck, presented her report and gave an account of the branch activities during the year. The balance sheet showed a satisfactory credit. The president and secretary were accorded a vote of thanks for their services during the year and each was presented with a division spoon. Mrs Bluck, who is leaving the district, was also presented with a cup, saucer and plate by Mrs G. Pope. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs G. Graham; vice-presi-dents, Mrs G. Lyons and Mrs G. Pope; secretary, Mrs S. J. Mcllroy. At the close of the meeting a dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses.

THE MAUKU BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING At the annual meeting of the Mauku Women’s Division, Mrs J. Bellhouse presided. The election of officers resulted: President. Mrs Bellhause; vice-presidents, Mrs Harper and Mrs Downs; secretary, Mrs Miller; treasurer, Miss Rawlings; librarian, Mrs Copland; exchange table, M» - s Carter. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Gordon and Miller.
