PAPAKURA METHODISTS

ANNIVERSARY SERVICES The Methodist church anniversary services and annual social were most successful. There was a fairly large congregation at the morning service which was taken by Mr T. Clark of Auckland. In the evening the preacher was the Rev. 1. M. Raynor, a special feature of the service being the presentation of the sacred cantata, “Rock of Ages,” by an augmented choir, whose singing reflected great credit on its conductor, Mr 11. V. Burton. The cantata was particularly well rendered by members of the choir and soloists.

Reports from various branches of the P'apakura church’s activities were presented at the annual social and revealed a very satisfactory and encouraging position. The reports were interspersed with musical and elocutionary items, all of which gave great pleasure to the large audience. The circuit superintendent, Rev. I. M. Raynor, and circuit steward, Mr S. Evans, expressed their thanks and appreciation to the various organisations for their faithful and devoted services throughout the year. Supper was dispensed by the members of the Ladies’ Guild, the singing of the Doxology bringing a fitting conclusion to a most successful gathering.
