GOLF NOTES.
FRANKLIN TOURNAIVIENT SUCCESS OF C. G. WARD ELL The outstanding feature of the Franklin golf championships, played on the Papakura course on Saturday, was the record put up by C. G. Wardell, of Manukau, who won the championship cup, the 36 holes handicap, the best 18 holes gross competition, and the Stableford bogey match. The weather conditions were good and the course was in splendid order. Seventy members from the following clubs took part: —Manukau, Papakura, Waikare, Pukekohe, Onewhero, and Waiuku. Following are the results: — Championship cup.—C. G. Wardell (Manukau). 153. The runner-up was J. J. Rogers (Manukau), 158, who won on the count-back over the last 18 holes from G. L. Martin (Manukau ).
Thirty-six holes handicap.—C. G. Warded. 153, 14—139; 11. J. Masson (Waikare), 175, 34—141. Best 18 holes gross. —C. G. Wardell, 73: T. R. Bloomfield (Waiulcu), 75.
Eighteen lioles medal. —A. Mandeno (Waiulcu), 84, 16 —68; H. J. Masson (Waikare), 88, 17 —71. Eigheen holes stableford bogey. —C. G. Wardell. 37, 5 —42; T. R. Bloomfield. 35, 5 —40. The Roulston banner for the best six cards returned was won by the Waiuku team, which beat Manukau bytwo strokes. The winning team’s scores were; —P. Howden ,159; T. R. Bloomfield, 160; Dr. Howden, 162; J. Ariele, 167; D. Hawke, 168; A. W. M. Ohlson, 171. The Franklin inter-club challenge cup was won by the following Manukau team :—J. Alexander, G. E. Revell, J. .T. Rogers, G. G. Wardell, M. Dudley. A putting competition held over 18 holes was won by M. Austin (Waikare) with a score of 35. R. J. Moore (Papakura) was runner-up with 36.
